Memminger E. Wiggins is an Of Counsel attorney in Avek’s Charlotte, North Carolina, office and a registered patent attorney with a diverse background built on 23+ years of practicing law. He routinely assists clients with their decisions to pursue intellectual property protection for their inventions and business trademarks. Since 2010 he has provided clients legal counsel in the areas of patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, as well as business and corporate law for new business startups. He has experience in the preparation and prosecution of both utility and design patent applications and trademark applications in the United States Patent and Trademark Office as well as the preparation and filing of copyright applications in the United States Copyright Office. Memminger has provided services to clients in numerous industries which include furniture design, household cleaning devices, tractor-trailer trucking safety, recreational boating, diagnostic medical, music, golf, infant care, holiday décor, and protective film laminates.
Memminger often provides technology-based clients informational resources for their entrepreneurial ventures and business development due to past participation in and/or co-sponsorship for various programs. Such programs include: the UNC Charlotte Venture Challenge (semi-finalist judge and mentor for university team contestants); the North Carolina Entrepreneurship Summit; the Charlotte Biotechnology Conference; UNC Five Ventures; Ventureprise, Inc.; Innoventure Conference; Innomobility Conference; the South Carolina Small Business Development Center (Rock Hill, SC); the North Carolina Small Business Technology and Development Center; and SCORE (Charlotte, NC).
Prior to relocating to North Carolina and establishing his intellectual property practice Memminger practiced law in South Carolina primarily in the areas of real estate law, estate planning and probate law, and business and corporate law. While attending law school Memminger worked as law clerk in the Michigan Attorney General’s Office. Before attending law school Memminger was employed at Clemson University for 13 years as a research specialist/scientist where he developed and conducted various scientific analysis via complex protocols such as iso-electrofocusing, high pressure liquid chromatography, radio-immuno-assays, light and electron microscopy, gel-electrophoresis, and ultra-centrifugation.
