Randall’s intellectual property law practice specializes in the preparation and prosecution of utility and design patent applications. He also advises clients about the strategic protection of ideas using utility patents, design patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Randall serves clients across a diverse range of technological fields, including consumer products, autonomous mobile robots, agricultural equipment, medical devices, turbomachinery, oil and gas equipment, aircraft, and specialized manufacturing systems.
Randall’s patent-focused experience also includes the filing and prosecution of appeals before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, prosecution of foreign patents, preparation of patent opinions, preparation and prosecution of U.S. reissue patent applications, and inter partes review proceedings before the Board. He also advises clients on intellectual property agreements.
As a graduate research assistant in mechanical engineering, Randall played a central role in the founding of the National Gas Machinery Laboratory (NGML) at Kansas State University.
Randall has a deep interest in entrepreneurship and in advising startups. His inspiration in patent law and entrepreneurship can be attributed to his father, Wayne, who is a lifelong inventor and was chosen as a national semifinalist in the History Channel’s 2006 “Invent Now” competition.
